PETALING JAYA: The Selangor government has approved a special allocation of RM100,000 each for all its assemblymen and RM50,000 each for all MPs from the state, regardless of party affiliation.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari disclosed this in a special announcement on his Facebook page today.

Amirudin said the special allocation to the assemblymen and MPs will be given out as soon as possible.

He said the funds were for the elected representatives to provide rations, such as rice, oil, flour and canned food, as well as other aid to the people during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic situation is getting worse, which requires the state government to continue working hard and to serve the people of Selangor,” he said of the allocations, which were part of a special aid package to help the people affected by the latest movement control order.

Amirudin also announced a one-month rental exemption for January and a two-month rental deferment for February and March for all People’s Housing Project (PPR) and council home residents.

“This will involve a cost of around RM1.7 million and will benefit some 2,361 PPR tenants,” he said.

A three-month rental deferment will also be given to tenants of 450 units under the Smart Sewa scheme, which will cost the state an additional RM1 million. - FMT
