Covid-19: Weekly Negri exco meeting cancelled as three govt officers are close contacts

SEREMBAN: The weekly state executive council meeting scheduled to be held at Wisma Negri on Wednesday (Jan 20) had to be cancelled after three government officers who were supposed to attend the meeting came into close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic).

The Mentri Besar said the three officers were from the secretariat and had tested positive on Monday (Jan 18).

"We decided to call off the meeting just to be on the safe side.

"God willing, we shall meet next week," he said when met at his official residence on Wednesday.

Aminuddin said none of his state exco members had tested positive for the virus.

Separately, Aminuddin said the operations at the Port Dickson Land and Administration Complex had also been affected after three employees tested positive.

"Due to this, 34 others have also been forced to undergo quarantine.

"We hope those planning to pay their quit rent will do so online and not go to the complex.

"However, officers have also been stationed at the premises to teach those who do not know how to do so," he said.

Aminuddin said despite the imposition of the movement control order nationwide from Jan 22 to Feb 4, all other state government public counters will remain open.

"We want to ensure services are not disrupted. But again, we hope those who wish to make payments will do so online," he said.

All pre-schools run by the Community Development Department (Kemas) and Tabika

Perpaduan are to remain closed during the MCO.

Mosques and surau committees, he said, will be allowed to hold solat fardhu and

Friday prayers but should strictly abide by the standard operating procedures issued by the state Islamic Affairs Department.

Citing an example, he said worshippers will have to bring their own prayer mats

(sejadah), wear face masks, perform ablution at their respective homes and practise

physical distancing.

Non-Muslim places of worship will also be allowed to hold their normal prayers based on strict SOPs.

Other events including weddings or engagements are not allowed.

Wet markets, he said, will only be allowed to operate from midnight till 2pm. - Star
