JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a delivery agent in connection with the meat cartel scandal investigation.
The commission said the 55-year-old suspect was arrested at the state MACC office at about 8pm tonight.
"He was arrested for suspected involvement in corrupt practices in connection with the meat cartel scandal," MACC said in a statement.
It said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
"The suspect will be brought to the Magistrate's Court tomorrow for a remand order application," MACC said.
Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest but declined to comment further as the case is still under investigation.
MACC has so far arrested six people in connection with the case including two Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (MAQIS) officers and the directors and employees of two importing companies. - NST
