PETALING JAYA: The lake in Taman Tasik Metropolitan, Kepong is polluted again, just a month after Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) issued a compound to a real estate developer for contaminating the water.
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, in highlighting this, said the waters were now “black, when it should be blue”.
“It’s polluted again. There are dead fish floating and it smells,” the DAP man tweeted, along with photographs and a video of the site.
Lim said this was not the first time he had complained about the matter.
“Please take stern and immediate action.”
Last month, DBKL issued a real estate developer a compound after it found that the lake’s water quality had deteriorated, likely caused by construction work going on next to the lake.
“A site inspection found suspended sediments in the lake and dead fish were visible on the surface of the lake,” Bernama had reported.
DBKL also said it had been tossing mud balls into the lake every day to control ammonia levels and break down any sludge or silt in the water.
The authority is also looking at adding a fountain to improve oxygen levels in the lake. - FMT
