Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently being treated at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) in Petaling Jaya.
The 83-year-old Umno advisory council chief is in a stable condition with no related complications.
"Tengku Razaleigh was screened recently and the results came back positive.
"He is currently at UMMC in a stable condition.
"He is a close contact of Nenggiri assemblyperson Abdul Aziz Yussof who recently tested as Covid-19 positive," a source told Astro Awani.
Based on Tengku Razaleigh's social media, the veteran politcian had attended two events in the last 14 days which is the incubation period for the coronavirus.
On Jan 2, he attended the Gua Musang Umno delegates' meeting and on Jan 4 he taped a live interview with Astro Awani at his residence.
It was reported that Tengku Razaleigh's aide Lokman Abdul Ghani had also tested positive for Covid-19 and was being treated at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
On Jan 9, Aziz tested positive for Covid-19 alongside Gua Musang Umno Youth chief Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani.
The duo had been involved in several flood relief efforts at Kampung Jeram Tekoh, Kampung Bertam Baru and Kampung Pasir Tumbuh in Gua Musang last week.
Tengku Razaleigh was reported to be Aziz's close contact based on their attendance at a briefing said to have been held in Kuala Lumpur last week. - Mkini
