KOTA BARU: The Kota Baru Municipal Council (MPKB) has revoked a permit issued to organisers of well-known local rock outfit Lefthanded to perform in a concert in Kelantan next month.
A letter was sent to the organisers on Sunday.
In the letter signed by the council's licensing and business control director Azizan Mohamed, MPKB stated that it had to revoke the permit following an increase of Covid-19 cases in the state.
"The move to revoke the permit for the Lefthanded concert which will see the band perform with 100 dikir barat practitioners at Sultan Muhammad IV stadium on Feb 13 is to help prevent the spread of Covid-19," the letter stated.
The letter also stated that the organisers could request for a refund.
Kelantan State Culture Council secretary Azman Mohd Daham said he was aware of the the revocation.
"I believe the organisers are also aware about this," he added.
Lefthanded planned to hold its first concert in Kelantan in conjunction with its 40th anniversary.
Lefhanded singer Datuk Nasharudin Elias, in a recent Press conference to announce the concert, said it would be held jointly with nearly 100 dikir barat practitioners such as Cikgu Sulizi and Man Khan. - NST
