Let’s stop fighting and focus on Malay unity, says Annuar

Former Barisan Nasional secretary-general Annuar Musa said there was no need for parties in the government to continue squabbling among themselves or the people will start hating them.

PETALING JAYA: Former Barisan Nasional secretary-general Annuar Musa has urged leaders in the Perikatan Nasional-led government to close ranks.

In a tweet, Annuar also said that his removal as secretary-general was a thing of the past. The Ketereh MP said he accepted the decision to replace him with Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan.

“Let us reduce attacks among leaders. My issue is resolved. I accept it. It is better we focus instead on helping the people.

“Strengthen unity among Malays and cooperation with all races. The country and the people are struggling. There is no need to continue squabbling or we will be hated.”

Annuar was earlier removed as BN secretary-general and Umno’s representative in the Muafakat Nasional secretariat.

Annuar, who is seen to be friendly towards Perikatan Nasional has come under fire from various quarters in Umno and some have even urged the party to sack him.

In response to these calls, Annuar said he was willing to be removed in order to maintain the cooperation among Malay parties and the PN government. - FMT
