MCO: Diners chip in to pay fines for two Kota Kinabalu restaurants which allowed eat-ins

KOTA KINABALU: A few diners chipped in to pay fines for two restaurants which allowed people to sit and dine in Beaufort on Friday (Jan 15).

In the first incident, a 58-year-old man was issued a compound after he was found allowing dine-ins at about 1pm.

Beaufort OCPD Deputy Supt Azmir Abd Razak said the man was compounded when policemen were doing their routine checks and inspections on SOPs in view of the movement control order (MCO) in place in Sabah.

In the second case, a 36-year-old woman was issued a similar fine as she had allowed people to eat and drink inside her restaurant in Kg Tinambak, Kuala Penyu at about 9pm.

“There were several patrons in the restaurant at the time of incident,” he said.

It is learnt that patrons chipped in to pay the fine of RM1,000 for the restaurant owners in both cases.

DSP Azmir reminded all business operators to comply with the SOPs during this MCO period which is in effect till Jan 26. - Star
