The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) has given the green light to the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.
This was announced by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today.
"I have been informed by health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah that the NPRA has given conditional registration for the Pfizer vaccine.
"We are still waiting for a few additional information from Pfizer but this means it can be used in Malaysia.
"Congratulations NPRA on the quick registration," he said on his social media accounts.
In early December, Noor Hisham said the NPRA had to ensure all vaccines go through evaluation and testing processes based on the principles of quality, safety, and effectiveness before being registered for the Malaysian market.
Noor Hisham said the NPRA's scope was also to ensure that the quality, safety, and effectiveness of vaccines and registered medicines are guaranteed through a quality product monitoring programme and pharmacovigilance. - Mkini
