KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has denied allegations that over RM35 million has been allocated to build one community hall in Pagoh, Johor.
It clarified that the allocation which is only worth RM35.43 million would be used to build three community halls, namely Dewan Gersik, Tangkak (RM13 million); Dewan Masyarakat Bukit Pasir, Muar (RM16.66 million); and the Bukit Kepong Community Centre, Muar (RM5.77 million).
"This development allocation is not for the construction of one hall, as claimed by certain quarters.
"The construction of these three halls are to meet the needs of the local community," the PMO said in a statement tonight.
It added that the procurement for the three halls' construction projects was also not made through direct negotiations, but in accordance with procedures by tender approved by the Finance Ministry.
"Such claims made viral are malicious and the PMO regrets this irresponsible act." - NST
