SEPANG: Police have opened an enquiry paper to look into allegations of gambling activities at the low-risk Covid-19 quarantine centre in Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Serdang.
Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the papers were opened after his team received a report about the incident from an officer on duty at the Dato Abu Bakar Baginda police station, here, today.
"The enquiry papers were opened to enable the police to make further investigations about the incident and also to enhance inspections on patients in MAEPS," he said today.
A few days ago, claims that gambling activities were taking place at a PKRC hall at MAEPS in Serdang which accommodates Covid-19 patients were making rounds on social media.
Several patients at the centre were seen playing cards in several videos which lasted for about five to 10 seconds, resulting in netizens deeming the centre to be a "mini casino". — Bernama
