There was a record number (210) of new Covid-19 cases in Selangor reported today by those who with symptoms and are not linked to existing clusters or close contacts.
According to data from the Selangor Health Department, 36 cases involved those with severe acute respiratory illness and another 174 new cases were those with other symptoms.
The number of cases from those with symptoms was almost four times higher than the average (54.47 cases) reported over the previous 30 days.
Patients with Covid-19 symptoms, including Sari, are more likely to develop complications compared to the majority of those with Covid-19 but without symptoms.
The Selangor Health Department does not publish details on how many people end up needing intensive care or ventilator support to breathe.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has repeatedly stated that Covid-19 patients are at the highest risk of infecting others between three days of developing symptoms and seven days after developing symptoms.
No other state Health Department provides the level of data granularity that Selangor does. - Mkini
