PUTRAJAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed has been discharged after being hospitalised for 12 days due to Covid-19.
In a Facebook post, the Jeli MP, also known as Tok Pa, also confirmed that he was under intensive care for three days.
"Alhamdulillah, after 12 days of battling Covid-19 at HRPZ II (Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Baru), with the great care of doctors and nurses, I have been discharged at 4.30pm today," wrote Mustapa.
"During my 12 days in hospital, one of the most worrying moments has to be during the three days in ICU, when I was weak and had breathing difficulty.
"With proper care from doctors, nurses and full trust in Allah, I am recovering.
"Now, I need plenty of rest, reduce my work and avoid meeting other people," he said.
Mustapa, affectionately known as Tok Pa, said the Covid-19 pandemic is a humbling lesson to humans.
"The threat of Covid-19 is serious. We must instil the fear of the virus within us, as we have not won the war against it yet," he said.
On Jan 10, Mustapa’s office confirmed that the 70-year-old had tested positive for Covid-19.
Prior to that, Mustapa had attended a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia meeting which also had Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and other Cabinet ministers present.
Several other ministers also turned out to be Covid-19 positive after. - Star
