Umno 'court cluster' ignoring king, PAS' advice - Bersatu leader

A Bersatu leader has chastised Umno's "court cluster" for ignoring advice from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and their ally PAS in their repeated attempts to topple the Perikatan Nasional Plus government.

The court cluster refers to Umno leaders who are on trial for corruption including former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan.

"It is clear that the court cluster and their supporters in Umno pay no heed to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's advice when officiating Parliament late last year to politic less and focus on helping the people and the country," Bersatu supreme council member Muhammad Faiz Na'aman (above) told Malaysiakini.

"Further, this Umno court cluster and their old political warlords who keep wanting to topple PN have never paid attention to advice from their Muafakat Nasional friend PAS what more the regular people out there who are tired of all the power-hungry drama of desperate politicians," he added.

Muhammad Faiz was reacting to Umno's Machang MP Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub withdrawing his support from PN Plus today.

The decision leaves PN Plus with just 110 out of 220 MPs currently in the Dewan Rakyat.

However, as the opposition does not have a majority either, the PN Plus government still stands.

The move comes ahead of Umno's decision at its general assembly on Jan 31 on whether or not to end ties with Bersatu.

Ahmad Maslan had said that one of Umno's key gripes with PN is the government continuing "cruel" court cases against the party initiated by the previous administration.

Meanwhile, PKR Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin should meet the king and present his options after having lost majority support.

Hassan said these options include Muhyiddin resigning or advising His Majesty on four other options.

The options are either to dissolve Parliament, declare an emergency, appoint an interim government or appoint PKR president Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister of a minority government and give him the opportunity to form a bipartisan unity government.

Umno leaders who are against Bersatu have stressed that they are also against working with Anwar and his ally DAP. - Mkini
