KUALA LUMPUR: Those in the Klang Valley thinking of travelling to other states will have to wait a while longer as roadblocks bordering Negri Sembilan and Perak remain.
While the Klang Valley has moved to Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), which led to the end of inter-district roadblocks, those bordering other states are still being manned.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said state police have ended inter-district roadblocks with the transition to Phase Two.
“However, several roadblocks bordering Negri Sembilan and Perak are still in operation,” he said when contacted.
Comm Arjunaidi said roadblocks at state borders are still needed as interstate travel is not allowed yet.
“We are maintaining the roadblocks at the state borders as well as those leading to highways.
“It is a must as interstate travel is not permitted and we have to conduct proper checks,” he added.
Comm Arjunaidi urged the public to adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).
He also reminded all parties, including business owners and managers, to ensure their customers abide by the SOP at their premises.
“This is definitely not the time to get complacent. All of us must play our part in curbing the spread of the virus,” he added.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said all roadblocks put up in the city have also ended.
“All roadblocks, including the ones near the Sungai Besi and Jalan Duta toll plazas, have been withdrawn as Kuala Lumpur has moved to Phase Two of the NRP, which allows inter-district travel,” he said.
While there are no more roadblocks in the city, Comm Azmi reminded the public not to abuse the relaxation of the SOPs that comes with Phase Two.
“Be mindful of the safety of yourself and others by staying vigilant and complying with the SOP.
“The war against Covid-19 is not over yet,” he said.
Comm Azmi said stern action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the SOP.
“The compliance operation task force members are always making their rounds.
“We will take action against those not complying with the SOP, including issuing compound notices,” he added. - Star
