Has anything been done on ex-IGP's corruption claims among political frogs?

PARLIAMENT | Mohamad Sabu (Pakatan Harapan-Kota Raja) has questioned whether the government has done anything about the allegations made by former inspector-general of police (IGP) Abdul Hamid Bador on corruption among ‘political frogs’.

He said the claims made by Hamid are very serious, especially as it had come from someone who held the highest position in the police force.

“I do not see that there is any serious investigation being done or any information being shared with Parliament.

“Was the IGP speaking nonsense? If he was, he must be charged because he damaged the country’s image as well as the police force’s image,” Mohamad, who is widely known as Mat Sabu, said while debating Budget 2022 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

In Hamid’s last press conference as the IGP in late April this year, he had urged the MACC to investigate elements of alleged corruption among ‘political frogs’.

He had also claimed that elements of corruption are “everywhere in politics”.

Hamid had also alleged in March this year the existence of a “cartel” in the police force, whose ambition is to dominate the force for their own personal interests.

He said this group had also purportedly conspired to get rid of him as the IGP.

Mohamad brought up the cartel claims in Parliament today as well, pointing to a recent report alleging that there are some in the police force who paid RM100,000 to be promoted.

“Promotions can be bought. Is this true?

“To the point that the former IGP Musa Hassan was called to urge for an immediate investigation into this matter.

“Because if it is merely an accusation, action must be taken against those who reported it. If it is true, the police force’s image is already damaged,” Mohamad said. - Mkini
