CAMERON HIGHLANDS: More than 12 incidences of landslides and uprooted trees took place here today, leaving one man injured.
The landslides occurred following two hours of intense rain which began at 2pm.
Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue Department chief Zulraime Seman said a car was badly damaged when several trees fell on top of it near a hotel in Tanah Rata.
He said there were four men in the car at the time. Two of them were trapped in the vehicle.
"We managed to bring them out of the vehicle but one of them sustained minor injuries. Two others were rescued by members of the public.
"They were taken to the hospital for further treatment," he said.
Zulraime said several roads in the highlands had to be closed to all vehicles due to the landslides and uprooted trees.
The locations included areas near Big Red Strawberry, Strawberry Park, the route to Boh Sungai Palas, the route to Water Crest, the route to Rose Valley, Taman MCA, Taman Pelangi, Ringlet and Batu 20 in Tapah.
"Cleanup work has to be conducted first before the affected routes can be reopened to traffic," said Zulraime. - NST
