Hadi stays as PAS president uncontested, Kedah MB pulls out of veep race

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man have been re-elected to their party posts after no challengers emerged for the upcoming PAS polls.

Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, meanwhile, has pulled out from the vice-president race. This leaves four candidates vying for three vice-president spots.

This was revealed by incumbent PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan at a press conference in Kuala Terengganu today as reported by Bernama.

The other candidates for the vice-president posts are incumbents - Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Abdullah and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Idris Ahmad.

Newcomer party strategist Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki is also aiming for a spot as vice-president.

For the 18 central committee posts, Takiyuddin said there are 36 candidates.

Voting will take place during PAS' main muktamar which kicks off on Saturday.

This year's muktamar will be a hybrid annual general meeting with delegates attending both in person and virtually.

Takiyuddin said none of the party's allies have been invited to the muktamar. - Mkini
