PETALING JAYA: Former Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam has lodged a police report against Melaka election candidates Adly Zahari and Idris Haron of Pakatan Harapan over alleged illegal sand mining activities.
In a Facebook clip, Lokman said he had evidence to back up his allegations against the two former Melaka chief ministers.
He said Adly and Idris had claimed that the Melaka state government led by chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali had approved several sand concessions to the point that some had called Barisan Nasional (BN) “penyamun pasir” (sand thieves).
“I have all the proof I need on Idris, who authorised, and the Adly government, which extended the approval of sand mining in a 200-hectare permanent forest reserve site.
“To justify his (Idris) actions, the permanent forest reserve site was renamed a production forest,” he said.
Lokman also alleged that Adly had given sand mining approvals until 2025 at the permanent forest reserve, which was a water catchment area in the Jasin district.
He claimed that Adly was also “permitted” to mine for sand in the permanent forest reserve area without having to file any environmental impact assessment (EIA) report.
Lokman urged the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the allegations.- FMT
