State stand on Timah, 4D ban, MCA tells Amanah candidates

Melaka MCA Youth wants to know if Amanah’s candidates in Saturday’s election support Kedah’s 4D ban.

PETALING JAYA: MCA has called on Amanah’s candidates in the Melaka state election to state their stand on the Timah whisky issue and the Kedah government’s decision to ban gaming outlets in the state.

Previously, Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub had said that Muslims were sensitive to the brand of the whisky, which was said to be an abbreviation of the name Fatimah.

Additionally, two Amanah assemblymen in Kedah had stood up in support of Kedah’s 4D ban in the state assembly on Monday.

In a statement today, Melaka MCA Youth chief Denis Lee questioned if Amanah’s candidates in Melaka were also against the whisky’s name and supportive of the 4D ban in Kedah.

“It is incumbent on all Amanah candidates to state their stance on these two issues,” he said, so that the people would know if Melaka would be more moderate or more conservative and extreme should Pakatan Harapan (PH) recapture the state government.

“Their views will have an important bearing on Melaka’s future prospects. Therefore, Amanah candidates must openly declare their position.”

Amanah is contesting in nine seats in the state election, with its allies PKR contesting 11 and DAP eight.
