Voters will back ‘original’ BN over ‘poor imitation’ PN, says Puad

PETALING JAYA: An Umno leader believes voters in Melaka will back Barisan Nasional (BN) over Perikatan Nasional (PN) as the latter was just a “poor imitation” of the 48-year-old coalition.

Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi took to Facebook today to accuse PN of copying BN in a number of aspects just to confuse the public.

“Umno is the ‘original’ party while Bersatu is a party of ‘frogs’,” he said.

He added that the latter was using PN to try and replicate the BN model, which had been successful all these years.

“First Bersatu copied Umno’s party colour by using red for its logo, and then it chose blue as PN’s logo colour  to copy BN which also uses blue.

“Finally, it also incorporated the word ‘Nasional’ into the coalition’s name.”

Puad also accused PN of adopting BN’s approach in announcing its chief minister-designate.

PN had named deputy law minister Mas Ermieyati Samsudin yesterday as its chief ministerial candidate for the Melaka state election just two days before polling day.

This was after several analysts had predicted that not having a CM-designate among its candidates would hurt PN’s chances at the polls.

BN, meanwhile, had announced on Nov 6 that Sulaiman Md Ali would be its choice while Pakatan Harapan endorsed its Melaka chief Adly Zahari for the chief minister’s job on Nov 10.

Both Sulaiman and Adly are former Melaka chief ministers.

Melaka goes to the polls tomorrow with 28 seats up for grabs. - FMT
