PAS members should give party leaders their full trust and not be nosy or try to take over their jobs, said Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria.
He said this is the necessary conduct that members need to emulate which will also allow them to avoid getting "headaches" from thinking about the party's plans.
"We don't have to fill in the top jobs (by thinking about) who PAS will sit with, how many seats (to contest).
"We at the grassroots just take instructions. Otherwise, we will get headaches.
"What we don’t need to ask, we should not ask. Give tsiqah (full confidence) to decisions made by the party’s leadership. That is the conduct that we need to have,” Razman (above) was quoted as saying by PAS mouthpiece Harakah Daily today.
The former PAS treasurer said this in his closing speech at the state-level discussion on PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's policy address during its muktamar last November.
His remarks came amid boiling tensions between PAS and Umno after seat negotiations for the upcoming Johor polls ended with the Islamist party being offered a raw deal.
Umno offered PAS just four seats to contest if it wanted to avoid clashes, which the latter snubbed.
Instead, PAS will contest Johor together with Umno's rival Bersatu, as part of Perikatan Nasional (PN).
While the party's top leadership prefers PN, there are dissenting voices in PAS who are in favour of cooperation with Umno and maintaining the Muafakat Nasional pact.
Razman said all PAS members need to intensify the implementation of election strategies ahead of the general election and not polemise the discussion at the leadership level.
Lead with integrity
Razman pointed out a country can be destroyed by the issue of integrity.
Integrity does not only involve matters of financial management but also carrying out responsibilities, the Perak exco member said.
"Getting positions is not just for fun," he added.
Meanwhile, PAS information chief Khairil Nizam Khiruddin said the wisdom of party leaders had been proven by their various forms of ijtihad (rational discourse) to save the country.
He said the move was in line with the party's constitution to govern the country in accordance with Islam.
To prove this, the Dewan Negara member cited PAS' administration in Kelantan which, for more than 30 years, was managed through a religious approach.
He claimed that this was executed to the point where no party leader has been linked to corruption.
"(This) is a message to the people (that) PAS is capable of producing leaders who, when given trust, are able to lead with the values of integrity and competence," he said at the same event. - Mkini
