Pasir Pinji assemblyperson Howard Lee has criticised what he described as MCA's "glorification of an extremist party".
This was after MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker, who is also the deputy youth and sports minister, said his party can work with PAS as long as PAS respects the Federal Constitution.
"Glorifying an extremist party, submitting to their agenda, and giving them power and prominence at the expense of one’s own party’s credibility; one can only deduce that the sweet addictive allure of ministerships is far too intoxicating for MCA to put the country first," Lee (above)said.
The DAP lawmaker claimed PAS is a threat to the fabric of the nation and would do away with the Federal Constitution if it had the opportunity.
“PAS has never shied away from championing issues that are grave threats to the multicultural, multiethnic, multireligious fabric of our beautiful nation that is Malaysia.
"It has never been questioned whether or not PAS’s existence as a political party is constitutional, but there is no doubt that PAS would do away with the Constitution if it is given the power," he said.
Lee added that it was MCA's involvement in the Sheraton Move, which saw the toppling of the Pakatan Harapan government in 2020, that helped PAS become part of the federal government.
"The deputy minister’s statement now shows that MCA is prepared to hang on PAS’ coattails so long as they stay in power.
