DAP national chairperson Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu are in the dark over alleged attempts by Umno to prop up the duo’s ally - Pakatan Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim - as prime minister.
However, Lim (above) said Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s revelations are irrelevant to the problems faced by the people.
"I don’t think it's relevant to problems the country is facing now (such as) inflation and rising prices. So let the people see who are those fighting for their own interests.
"For us (DAP, Amanah), we are more focused on how to solve people’s problems, how to fight corruption, how those who are corrupt get punished and how those fighting corruption are also getting punished.
"That's more important," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Lim and Mohamad were met on the sidelines of the DAP chairperson’s ongoing corruption trial over the Penang undersea tunnel project.
SDs in support of Anwar
Tajuddin - who was sacked as an Umno supreme council member last week - held a tell-all presser yesterday, in which he said that a number of Umno MPs had signed statutory declarations (SDs) to support Anwar as prime minister in 2020.
This included Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, he alleged.
Lim said he had never seen any SDs, quipping that he was not the one nominated to be prime minister.
Likewise, Mohamad said he had no idea whether Tajuddin's claims were true or false.
Asked about his stance on the matter, the Amanah president replied that this was an internal Umno matter. - Mkini
