Man nabbed for alleged murder of younger sister in KK

KOTA KINABALU: A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly causing the death of his younger sister here.

The sister, aged 25, was found with serious injuries to her face by the father at their family home at Jalan Signal Hill at 4.30pm on May 4.

The victim was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital II for treatment, but died two days later at 10.30pm on Saturday (May 6).

Kota Kinabalu deputy OCPD Supt Kalsom Idris said the police were still trying to establish the reason behind the fatal attack.

According to statements by family members, she said, they believed the man was involved in a fight with his sister before the incident.

The father had found her lying face down, with the woman’s face bloodied.

"The victim and the brother (it was said) had frequently quarrelled at home," she said when contacted on Monday (May 8).

"But we have yet to ascertain the motive, and investigations are ongoing.

"At the time of the incident, only the two siblings were at home," Supt Kalsom added.

She said they did not find any weapon at the scene of the crime, but police seized two rings worn by the suspect.

A urine test on the suspect found that he was negative for drugs, she said, adding that the case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
