KUALA LUMPUR: A businessman has gone public about his affair with a woman after claiming that she and her accomplice are attempting to blackmail him into paying RM30,000.
The victim, who only wants to be known as Foo, is hoping that by going public, he could prevent the woman and her accomplice from carrying out their threat to distribute his nude pictures if he did not pay them.
The 51-year-old also hopes to prevent others from falling into the same trap.
Foo said he first met the 35-year-old woman called Ling, who claimed to be an insurance agent, at a pub last year.
Over the course of a six-month friendship, they became intimate. During this time, Ling had apparently recorded the victim naked during a video call. Foo said he did not consent to the recording.
In April this year, Ling asked to borrow RM30,000, claiming it was to settle a debt owed to her ex-boyfriend, whom she alleged was working in a casino.
Foo refused but Ling’s ex-boyfriend confronted him at his workplace and threatened him. Foo, however, refused to give in to their demands.
Ling and her ex-boyfriend then threatened to send his nude pictures to his wife.
When Foo refused again, they sent the nude pictures to his wife and threatened to distribute the same pictures to his children and colleagues.
Meanwhile, MCA public services and complaints department chief Michael Chong said Foo had not lodged a police report.
“He will be seeking legal counsel on what to do next.
“What’s important is that Foo regrets what transpired,” Chong said at a press conference here.
Chong also believed that there might be other victims who had been targeted by the duo.
“I expect more victims to come forward,” he added. - FMT
