Air quality in parts of Klang Valley at ‘unhealthy’ level

The air quality in other areas of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur was also bordering on unhealthy levels, with readings in the 90s.

PETALING JAYA: Some parts of the Klang Valley have been experiencing unhealthy air quality as of 10am today.

According to the environment department, the air pollutant index (API) showed an unhealthy level of 152 in Cheras, 140 in Kuala Selangor, 134 in Johan Setia and 125 in Batu Muda.

The air quality in other areas of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur is also bordering on unhealthy levels, with readings already in the 90s.

API readings in most parts of the country show the air quality as being good or moderate. However, in Serian, Sarawak, the API reading was 152 as of 10am.

An API of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality; 51 and 100, moderate; 101 and 200, unhealthy; 201 and 300, very unhealthy; and 300 and above, hazardous. - FMT
