The Pelangai state seat by-election in Bentong, Pahang might see a multi-cornered fight instead of a straight battle between BN and Perikatan Nasional.
This comes as an independent candidate has also appeared at the election nomination centre in Felda Kemasul, as of 9.08am today.
The candidate, businessperson Haslihelmy DM Zulhasli, 36, was seen arriving at the nomination centre at Dewan Orang Ramai Felda Kemasul, accompanied by a proposer and a seconder.
He then joined PN candidate Kasim Samat (above, third from left) and BN's Amizar Abu Adam - who had entered the hall minutes earlier to submit their nomination forms.
Meanwhile, unlike Haslihelmy who appeared to be accompanied by only his proposer and seconder, Kasim and Amizar both had their respective party top leaders present to give support.
Among those seen at the venue from the BN side were Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also BN chairperson - Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu (Amanah president), MCA president Wee Ka Siong and Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
On the PN side, top leaders who came include PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, PN election director and Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Pahang PN chief Saifuddin Abdullah.
