The MACC is still pursuing new leads into the Yayasan Akalbudi case involving Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The graft buster’s chief commissioner Azam Baki did not elaborate in detail about the investigations.
“I’m not sure how long is needed to look into the new leads.
“I leave it to my investigators,” The Star quoted Azam telling reporters after launching the National Governance, Integrity, and Anti-Corruption Research Conference in Sepang, Selangor earlier today.
On Monday, Zahid was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) on all 47 of his criminal breach of trust, corruption, and money laundering charges in relation to Yayasan Akalbudi funds.
The decision was made by judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah after hearing 11 grounds submitted by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar in relation to halting the trial.
Yesterday, the Attorney-General’s Chambers said the prosecution’s application for Zahid to be granted a DNAA on all his charges was made based on “cogent” reasons. - Mkini
