PETALING JAYA: Puad Zarkashi has described the Selamatkan Malaysia rally held by Perikatan Nasional Youth today as an example of “selective demonstration”.
The Umno Supreme Council member questioned why PN Youth did not organise a rally urging former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin to get his son-in-law, Adlan Berhan, to return to Malaysia.
Adlan has been placed on Interpol’s Red Notice list after being sought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“PN can also press for the police to promptly bring back Muhyiddin’s son-in-law for investigation. Why is it staying silent?” he said in a Facebook post.
Puad also claimed that PN Youth seemed to be afraid to organise such rallies because many others, including PAS leaders, would be implicated in the Jana Wibawa controversy if Adlan was charged.
This afternoon, hundreds of people gathered outside Masjid Jamek in Kampung Baru despite organisers earlier declaring that the planned Selamatkan Malaysia rally had been “cancelled”.
PAS Youth information chief Nazir Helmi told the crowd of protesters that they would be marching to the Dang Wangi police headquarters where a report would be lodged over deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s conditional discharge in his Yayasan Akalbudi case.
Later, Bersatu’s Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said the report was lodged due to the multitude of questionable circumstances surrounding Zahid’s case from the moment he was charged to the eventual decision. - FMT
