A PAS MP has hit out at Bersatu’s Selat Klang assemblyperson Abdul Rashid Asari, who expressed his support for the leadership of Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari last week.
Jerantut MP Khairil Nizam Khirudin said there was no need for Rashid to justify his actions with excuses, including unhappiness with PAS.
“If it’s betrayal, it’s a betrayal. There’s no need to make excuses,” he told Malaysiakini.
Rashid said he went against the party line due to, among others, disappointment in the issue of seat distribution in Perikatan Nasional.
Yesterday, he admitted his disappointment with Bersatu’s treatment of him and that he felt as if he was not cared about by the party.
Rashid claimed that ahead of the 15th general election in 2022, Bersatu together with PAS and Gerakan had agreed on the distribution of seats through an agreement, which was later broken by PAS.
‘Not safe from God’s punishment’
Specifically, the former Selangor Bersatu chairperson claimed that the Kapar parliament seat contested and won by PAS was initially allocated to Bersatu.
Commenting further, Khairil (above) also reminded Rashid about sin and punishment for those who commit treason.
“This treacherous person will not be safe from God’s punishment.
“We live in this world where there is God and one of the characteristics of believers is to stick to their promises. So, don’t give excuses,” he said.
However, he refused further comments on the alleged seat that PAS “seized” from Bersatu.
Rashid, who was once a Selangor senior exco when Bersatu was part of Pakatan Harapan, became the latest representative from PN to declare support for the coalition government.
The move by the lawyer in his early 70s is considered surprising because previously only MPs defected from PN to support the government. - Mkini
