PETALING JAYA: The police will place roadblocks and enforce strict checks on vehicles that attempt to enter Putrajaya tomorrow ahead of a planned solidarity rally for former prime minister Najib Razak at the Palace of Justice.
Putrajaya police chief Aidi Sham Mohamed said strict action will be taken against those who attend the gathering tomorrow as it is not legal, Bernama reported.
He said the checks would ensure no weapons, banners, or placards containing offensive or inflammatory words are brought into the area.
“We remind the public not to attend tomorrow’s gathering,” he said in a statement.
He added that 456 police personnel will be on duty at the location and its surrounding areas tomorrow.
According to Bernama, railings have already been erected around the Palace of Justice to prevent people from gathering around the compound from tonight.
Yesterday, police said the application for tomorrow’s rally was rejected as it was “incomplete”, without further elaboration.
Aidi today explained that the assembly did not obtain the permission of the landowner to hold the rally, as required under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012. - FMT
