Hope springs eternal under the Madani government.
There is no need to extend whistleblower protection to those who turn to the media first, and of course, no pressing need to place the MACC and police under Parliament either.
Never mind that one of the biggest corruption scandals that rocked the country was exposed through the media 10 years ago.
Never mind that in the heat of the scandal, the attorney-general and MACC chief were replaced with individuals perceived to be more subservient to the prime minister at the time.
Never mind that from 2015 to 2018, the police, MACC, and attorney-general actively worked to either drag their feet or suppress investigations, and even clear the prime minister.
It was only after that prime minister was ousted that investigations and charges were fully carried out, and now said prime minister has been convicted of one set of crimes and is on trial for another set of crimes.
But fear not. This will never happen again because Anwar Ibrahim is now prime minister, and his government will “uphold the rule of law” and keep legal institutions “independent”.
Yes, Anwar and his active lifestyle will remain fit and healthy to serve and ensure no prime minister ever robs our country again, because Madani will remain in power forever.
What happens if Madani is ousted, you ask? How dare you ask such a thing.
Anwar’s legacy is so great that every prime minister after him will remain an upright citizen who will never be corrupted by power and fall into temptation.
