
BATU PAHAT: A three-vehicle accident that left two people injured and a trailer lorry sprawled across both lanes of the highway brought traffic to a standstill for hours at KM96 of the North-South Highland (northbound) this evening.
The accident that occurred during today's (Feb 21) peak hour at 5.03pm, also involved a Toyota Vios and a Perodua Myvi.
Two female passengers in the Perodua Myvi sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital by passersby before emergency responders arrived.
The trailer's blockage of the two-lane highway caused massive congestion, with traffic only easing hours after the wreckage was cleared.
Johor Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Mohd Shahril Razali said a team from the Ayer Hitam and Yong Peng stations was deployed and arrived at the scene at 5.36pm.
Shahril said the trailer and Toyota Vios drivers were unharmed.
Rescue teams ensured the scene was safe before concluding operations at 6.15pm.
The overturned tanker caused massive congestion, with traffic only easing hours after the wreckage was cleared.
District police chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said a statement on the incident will be released after traffic officers complete their investigations. - NST
