A Johor Amanah leader has urged voters in the state to “punish” Umno and BN in the next state election, claiming purported failures to govern and understand the needs of the people.
Johor Amanah vice-chief Zuhan Zain, in a statement, claimed that among the factors supporting the call is Umno’s lack of concern over the worsening economic problems faced by the rakyat.
Zuhan (above), who alluded to recent developments in Negeri Sembilan, further claimed, “In addition, Johor Amanah views Umno’s political greed, including its willingness to destabilise the state government it is part of - as seen in developments in other states - as proof that the pursuit of power outweighs the interests of the people.”
Yesterday, Negeri Sembilan Umno withdrew its support for Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun, who is also PKR’s Port Dickson MP and Sikamat assemblyperson.
Negeri Sembilan Umno chairperson Jalaluddin Alias said the decision was made unanimously by all 14 assemblypersons due to their loss of confidence in Aminuddin’s leadership.

All 14 Umno assemblypersons also welcomed an announcement from five PN assemblypersons who expressed their readiness to cooperate with BN, forming a simple majority in the Negeri Sembilan state assembly.
‘Disloyal partner’
Commenting further, Zuhan said, “These actions clearly show that Umno does not reflect the attitude of a loyal and responsible coalition partner, but is instead inclined towards narrow political manoeuvring that ultimately harms national stability.
“The people of Johor have the right to choose a leadership that is stable, has integrity, and is truly focused on the welfare of the rakyat, rather than one that treats politics as a power struggle without direction,” he stressed.
Zuhan added that Johor Amanah, together with other Pakatan Harapan components, is committed to offering an alternative leadership that is cleaner, more inclusive, and people-centric.

“Johor Amanah is confident that the people are now more discerning and will no longer be swayed by mere political rhetoric.
“The people’s mandate must be used as a voice to reject unstable and irresponsible politics,” he said.
The Johor government’s term of administration under Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi ends in April 2027, but Johor Amanah - with a single seat in the 56-seat state assembly - has on multiple occasions declared its readiness to contest the 40 seats held by BN.
Previously, Johor PKR chairperson Dr Zaliha Mustafa also reportedly denied that the party would contest the upcoming Johor election solo. - Mkini
