Party vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu says Bersatu had raised its objections to admitting Wawasan into PN at the coalition's Supreme Council meeting last night.

Bersatu vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the party was “deeply disappointed” with Samsuri’s insistence on accepting Wawasan, the party formed from the takeover of Parti Cinta Malaysia by former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin, without regard to implications under the Societies Act 1966 and other applicable laws.
He said Bersatu had objected to the move during last night’s PN Supreme Council meeting, arguing that the coalition was already grappling with internal issues following PAS’s decision to end political ties with Bersatu.
“Admitting a new party led by former Bersatu members who have been expelled will only compound PN’s internal difficulties,” he said in a statement today.
According to Faizal, Wawasan’s application was irregular, as it was submitted by Saifuddin Abdullah in his capacity as secretary-general, although Bersatu’s checks showed the current office bearer for the 2026-2027 term is one Yeo Kwee Kwang.
“Based on our verification as of yesterday, the change in leadership and the renaming of Parti Cinta Malaysia to Parti Wawasan Negara have not yet been approved by RoS.
“Using an unapproved party name is an offence under the Societies Act 1966,” he claimed.
The statement comes a day after Wawasan and Pejuang were admitted as new component parties of PN during a Supreme Council meeting attended by leaders from PAS, Bersatu, Gerakan and MIPP.
Hamzah previously said questions over the party’s registration status should not arise as it had only undergone a name change from an existing registered entity.
Faizal also said last night’s meeting should not have proceeded in light of a June 22 letter from RoS informing the coalition that several documents submitted by its secretary-general were incomplete and unsigned.
He said RoS had requested the information be furnished within seven days and reserved the right to defer consideration of PN’s new Supreme Council line-up until the matter was resolved.
“Bersatu representatives raised this matter during the meeting and took the position that the meeting ought to be adjourned,” he said.
“Nevertheless, the meeting proceeded, which may be in contravention of RoS’s requirements.” - FMT
