Perikatan Nasional election director Sanusi Nor indicated today that all four component parties, including Bersatu, will contest the upcoming Johor polls using the coalition’s logo.
Met by reporters at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur after a PN meeting on seat negotiations, he said the discussions attended by component party leaders had addressed the logo issue arising from PAS breaking ranks with Bersatu.
“InsyaAllah (all) will use PN’s logo. The discussion is on the use of PN’s logo,” he said.
Bersatu leaders present at the meeting included party deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu and its women’s wing chief Nolee Ashilin Radzi.
Sanusi (above) also declined to comment on Faizal’s statement today over Bersatu’s objection to PN’s admission of Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM), which has been “rebranded” as “Parti Wawasan Negara” led by Larut MP Hamzah Zainudin.
“That (decision) I have no locus standi to comment. That was decided in the meeting (last night) by vote,” he said in reference to a PN supreme council meeting that decided on the admission of “Wawasan Negara” as well as Pejuang.

“I only chaired the seat negotiations meeting (today).
“All okay, smooth. To be continued tomorrow morning, 10am. Please wait here,” quipped Sanusi, who is also the PAS election director.
Earlier today, PN deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan told Malaysiakini that “Wawasan Negara” has not been allocated any seats to contest in Johor.
However, Sanusi revealed that “Wawasan Negara” had also submitted a list of seats for negotiation.
“They gave a list of seats that they are eyeing. Can be discussed.
“My duty is just to negotiate, the final decision to be made by PN,” he said.

Running under PN’s logo
Separately, Faizal confirmed that Bersatu had submitted the party’s list of seats for negotiations, hinting that “more than half” have been resolved today and negotiations will continue tomorrow.
He also hinted that Bersatu candidates will contest under the PN logo but stopped short of an official confirmation.
“Wait. Once everything is done, we will make an announcement. So you all (media) can stay here for more days,” he quipped.
“If we want to use an individual party’s logo, then there is no need for (seat) negotiations,” he added.
On June 17, Muhyiddin declared that Bersatu will remain a PN component party and will field candidates under the PN logo in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan polls slated for July 11 and Aug 1, respectively.
Questions have arisen about Bersatu’s use of the PN logo in both state polls after breaking ranks with PAS, as only the coalition chairperson, PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, has the authority to sign the official nomination letter for PN-endorsed candidates.
Last night, Muhyiddin, who attended a PN supreme council meeting at the PAS headquarters, reaffirmed that Bersatu’s position remains status quo. - FMT
