
PETALING JAYA: A foreign female student was found dead, believed to have been murdered, at a condominium in Bandar Sunway today.
Following the incident, police detained a foreign man at the same location to assist in investigations.
Petaling Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said police received information on the incident at 11.03am and dispatched personnel to the scene.
He said a 20-year-old woman was found at the location and was believed to have died.
"Initial checks found several injuries on the victim's body. She was a student at a private higher education institution here," he said in a statement tonight.
He said police subsequently detained a foreign man in his 20s at the same location and seized several items believed to assist in the investigation.
"The man is also a student at the same institution. The motive is still under investigation and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
"The victim's body has been sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem, which will be conducted tomorrow to determine the cause of death," he said.
He urged those with information to come forward to the nearest police station or contact the investigating officer assistant superintendent Surianti Lataera, at 013-335 2547.
The public is also advised not to issue any statements or spread related materials on any platform to avoid speculation that could affect police investigations. - NST
