Rosmah's charity to be BN propaganda tool?

The charity Kasih should help BN recapture Selangor by disseminating gov’t information to the ground, says the ‘first lady’.

Members of the Badan Amal dan Kasih Selangor (Kasih) should equip themselves with the latest information on the government's policies and programmes to help channel the information to the grassroots, said the prime minister's wife, Rosmah Mansor.

rosmah mansor singingRosmah (left) who is also Kasih president, said Kasih was not just a welfare and charity body, but could also indirectly help the government strengthen the information delivery service to the grassroots.

"This does not mean that we want to take over the role of the elected representatives but only to help our husbands, who are the elected representatives and Barisan Nasional component party leaders, to disseminate accurate information fast," she said when opening Kasih's 3rd annual general meeting, here, today.

Kasih is the welfare and charity body of serving and former BN elected representatives in Selangor.

Also present was Kasih vice-president Aishah Salleh, who is the wife of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Noh Omar.

Rosmah said Kasih members needed to play a role in helping their husbands and BN recapture Selangor from the PKR-DAP-PAS state government.

At the event, Rosmah also launched the Tunas Kasih community service programme to help students in Selangor improve their academic performance and develop their potential.

A total of 560 primary and secondary school students from 560 state constituencies received RM100 (primary level) and RM200 each (secondary).

Rosmah said Kasih had so far contributed RM350,000 and 116 wheelchairs to 1,500 orphans, senior citizens and single mothers in the state through the Sentuhan Kasih 1Malaysia (1Malaysia Touch of Love) programme.

Under a programme carried out with the cooperation of 1Malaysia Development Berhad, Kasih helped to repair the homes of 24 poor people in the state until last December.
