The public who are eager to see the outcome of the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) scandal will have to wait longer as the attorney-general has sent the investigation papers back to the police, requesting for more probes.
According to a report on The Star Online, deputy inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said the AG wanted more investigations to be conducted on the case, but did not specify why the papers were sent back to the police.
Earlier on, Bukit Aman Commercial CID director Syed Ismail Syed Azizan revealed that the police has proposed that the AG charge NFC chairperson Mohamed Salleh Ismail, the husband of Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, with criminal breach of trust.
This prompted NFC to respond, describing Syed Ismail’s statement as “premature” because the investigations are still under way.
NFC’s statement was then echoed by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who asserted that the decision on any charges against individuals linked to the NFC will be decided solely by the AG.
