Lim dares Najib for judicial tribunal on Ramli exposure

On the heels of former Commercial Crimes Investigations Department chief Ramli Yusuff's revelation of victimisation by Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang dares Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to set up a judicial tribunal to seek the truth.

"... and until Gani is cleared of all these charges, he should go on leave to allow an acting AG to be appointed in his stead," Lim said in a statement today.

ramli yusuff asset declare case 120310 04Although Ramli's (right) allegations have been in the public domain for quite some time, the DAP leader added, this was the first time it has been made in public, and specifically by Ramli against Gani.

"This warrants serious and instant attention and action by Najib if the prime minister is sincere and serious in wanting to carry out a government and national transformation in the country where abuses of power and corruption are regarded as anathema under his administration."

The Ipoh Timor MP described Gani as "the AG in the country's 55-year history who has got the most number, as well as the most serious charges, of abuses of power made against him".

He called on the Najib administration not to continue to be like the "three monkeys of having eyes that see not, ears that hear not and mouths that speak not", but to act to protect the integrity of both the constitution and the highest offices in the land.

Malaysiakini reported yesterday that Ramli had made use of his 60th  birthday celebration on Wednesday to describe in detail how he and his men had been fixed by Gani since 2007 and how they were vindicated by the courts in being acquitted of the charges.

He also described how Gani used the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against him and his men.

This is the second serious allegation levelled against Gani after he, together with former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan, were accused of fabricating evidence in the first sodomy trial and opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim' 'black-eye' incident.
