Police confirmed that the man did not suffer from mental illness and they are in the midst of ascertaining drugs used when he went berserk.
Speaking to reporters today, Kuala Lumpur CID Chief Ku Chin Wah confirmed that the man from Felda Pemanis Segamat in Johor did not suffer any mental illness as earlier speculation suggested.
Ku then added that police were still waiting for a toxicology report to determine the type of drug used by the suspect prior to the attack, which took the lives of two men aged 25 and 48.
Two women were also critically injured in the incident when both were stabbed by the suspect who then fled with a white Daihatsu van.
“Urine test shows that the suspect was high on drugs when he went berserk, however, we are waiting for the chemist to determine the type of drugs used in the attack,” he said, adding that “he will be most probably charged tomorrow.”
In another development, city cops have released a photo-fit of the lover of the security guard who robbed a jewellery outlet at a shopping mall in Setapak on Thursday.
The 27-year-old woman identified as Norena Lamuddin @ Hasnah Hassan and believed to be from Lambitan in the Philippines, was said to have most of the stolen gold chains in her possession.
It was learnt that the stolen gold chains were valued at a total of RM150,000.
As of to date, four individuals had been arrested. The police managed to apprehend the security guard together with his accomplice at the LCCT on Sunday at about 7am while they were waiting to board a flight to Sabah.
However, it was believed that another man was with the main suspect at the airport terminal but managed to evade arrest and was still at large.
The two Filipino who were using fake identity cards later led the police to a house in Pandan Jaya where a Smith and Wesson pistol with five bullets, a pistol cover and several gold chain with price tags were found.
Police had also arrested two other men – a security guard working at another outlet and the jewellery outlet supervisor – in connection with the case a day after the robbery.
“The security guard we arrested is the main suspect’s friend while the supervisor was the one who gave the suspect the weapon used during the robbery,” Ku said.
“The weapon, a pistol, was registered in the supervisor’s name but he gave it to the security guard who used it to rob the outlet. We are investigating from all angles,” he said.
