Warning: Australian visas sold here

The Australian High Commission today warned that illegal sales of Australian visas are being carried out in Malaysia and ask the public to be aware and report cases back to them.
KOTA KINABALU : The Australian High Commission today warned the public not to be taken in by the sale of illegal Australian visas.
Last month, the Malaysian media reported on the illegal “sale of visas” by people smugglers, which allegedly allowed asylum seekers to fly into Australia.
Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Miles Kupa, noted a recent rise in the number of fraudulent scams or schemes advertising or making claims that genuine Australian visas could be purchased in Malaysia, particularly in Kuala Lumpur.
“We warn people to be very cautious regarding claims concerning Australian visas that are allegedly for sale. These claims are not true. Australian visas are not for sale. Visas can only be obtained through official channels.”
“We advise the public in Malaysia to ensure that they are dealing through reputable channels when seeking Australian visas,” he said, adding that Australia welcomes genuine visitors and migrants.
If you are aware of, or suspect a scam in relation to Australian visas, inform the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur by sending an email to integrity.kuala-lumpur@dfat.gov.au.
Information on proper processes and reputable channels to obtain Australian visas in Malaysia are set out with their service delivery partner, VFS Global’s website, www.vfsglobal.com/australia/malaysia.
Further official Australian visa channels are available on the Australian High Commission’s website,www.malaysia.highcommission.gov.au, and the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection’s website,www.immi.gov.au.
Malaysian citizens can access their Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) facility for short-term tourist visits. Accredited travel agents and individuals can access arrangements via the ETA website,https://www.eta.immi.gov.au/ETA/etas.jsp.
