PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said Umno has yet to make any attempt to contact the opposition party to discuss the issue of a national consensus.
He added that PKR only learned about the matter via media reports and hopes that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will immediately fix a date to discuss the matter.
“There are pressing issues such as those concerning religion, the economy and others that must be discussed as soon as possible,” he added.
On another matter, Azmin said the issue of replacing the Selangor menteri besar would be discussed after the conclusion of the Kajang by-election.
The PKR leader told reporters that his meeting with PAS yesterday was positive, with the latter agreeing to lend its support to the PKR candidate.
“We will solve the issues one by one... We did not talk about changing the MB yesterday, we only focused on the by-election,” he said.
On Wednesday, PAS organ HarakahDaily quoted party secretary-general Mustafa Ali as reminding PAS leaders and members not to make speculative comments regarding the Kajang by-election and the menteri besar position.
Apart from PAS, Azmin said he has also met DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and is slated to meet Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua.
He also expressed gratitude to Selangor PAS for stating that it would back PKR candidate Anwar Ibrahim in the by-election.
"I have heard the views of PAS leaders, and I have explained to them... I am certain that with their cooperation, we will defend the Kajang seat," he added.
