Bersih's report against Zahid is now with MACC.
TELUK INTAN: Perak police are investigating five reports of alleged offences connected with campaigning in the run-up to the Teluk Intan by-election.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Bakri Zinin said this afernoon that 18 such reports had been received since nomination day.
“We’ll look into all the reports,” he said. “Five are already under investigation.”
Speaking at a news conference at the Hilir Perak police station, he said two of the complaints under investigation had been classified as “obstructing a public servant on duty”. The other cases are “causing hurt”, “issuing a threat” and “defamation”.
He did not give more details.
Bakri assured voters that police would ensure their safety on polling day, which is this Saturday.
“Come out and vote,” he said. “There’s nothing to be afraid of.”
Perak Hilir police chief Goh Kok Liang said a police report against Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had been passed to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission.
The report, lodged yesterday by election watchdog Bersih, alleges that Zahid committed several offences with his claim that he knew the voting activities of Rela members.
