Win or lose, DAP’s newbie candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud has been turned into an opposition political icon, synonymous with other Pakatan Rakyat figures, after just barely two weeks in the campaign spotlight.
Red T-shirts with a silhouette portrait of Dyana and her name printed in Malay, Chinese and Tamil were selling like hot cakes.
The backs of the T-shirts provided information about her Facebook campaign, denoting the generation Dyana is reaching out to.
They were bought at RM10 each and became mobile billboards for Dyana as many supporters regardless of age, gender and race were seen wearing the T-shirt at her campaign events.
Like a celebrity, some supporters even pressed Dyana to autograph their T-shirts.
Dyana now joins other Pakatan Rakyat leaders like Anwar Ibrahim, Nurul Izzah and Nik Aziz Nik Mat who have their portraits immortalised on a T-shirt.

Cutting across racial barriers
The Indians like her
The Chinese like her
Even the Malays from Umno like her!
She has arrived!
Money-making machine!
Perhaps taking cues from the marketability of the Dyana product, DAP also yesterday launched a book of Dyana's past 11 articles and media statements titled An Earthly Beginning.
Never mind that there is just one more day to go before polling day tomorrow.
With its cover featuring Dyana in a white blouse, the book has also been snapped up by her supporters.
All 200 copies at RM20 each offered at a her speech event last night were sold out.
Win or lose in tomorrow’s by-election, Dyana has proven that she is at least marketable. - Mkini, Agencies
