KUALA LUMPUR -Hundreds of passengers were left stranded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) late last night after its aerotrains stopped functioning.
Several pictures of passengers waiting for buses to get to their departure gates were shared via the local forum website Cari.
Netizens also took to venting their frustration on Twitter with regard to the long queues.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, via its official Twitter account @MY_Airports, said the problem was due to a technical malfunction of the aerotrains.
In order to ferry passengers from the main terminal building to the satellite building, four buses and six vans were provided.
However, the volume of passengers waiting caused a long queue that led to a bottleneck.
According to the New Straits Times, a customer service representative told the English daily that the bottleneck of passengers waiting to board the buses provided, however, did not cause any flight to be delayed.
Twitter user Christina Lye said: “When I was in KLIA five days ago, one aerotrain wasn’t working. Now both!”
Another Twitter user @MrMarZuki tweeted: “We are stuck here for almost 2 hours just because KLIA doesn’t have a plan B.” -Therakyatpost.com
