A pro-Umno website highlights a tweet from Rahman Dahlan that contradicts Shafie's statement about 1MDB.
PETALING JAYA: A pro-Umno website has launched an attack on Rural and Regional Development Minister Shafie Apdal, implying that he lied in a statement hinting that the Cabinet is as much in the dark about 1MDB as the rest of the public.
A brief article posted on MyKMU.net today referred to a Twitter message by another Cabinet minister which asserted that Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah had, on various occasions, briefed the Cabinet on 1MDB.
The article noted that the tweet from Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan did not refer directly to Shafie’s statement yesterday, but pointed out that it exposed him to a charge that he had lied.
With the tweet, which was sent out last night, Abdul Rahman uploaded an image showing the front page of a document entitled “1MDB Fact Sheet”, which was distributed at a Cabinet meeting a few months ago.
He said the document contained latest information on the status of the company’s assets, investments and debts.
“In truth,” said Abdul Rahman, “the 1MDB issue has been brought up many times in the Cabinet. The Second Finance Minister has given plenty of information. Also, a fact sheet has been distributed.
“In my view, there’s no reason for polemics on lack of information, no information or the Cabinet not being informed.”
He also said the fact sheet was accompanied by a letter from Husni telling Cabinet members to refer to him if they needed more information.
