Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today refused to weigh in on the war of words between Culture and Tourism Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz and Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
Ahmad Zahid immediately stood up when he was asked on the matter at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
"I have another program to attend at 5pm," he said, as he left the press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.
Earlier today, the police confirmed that Nazri is being investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code over his recent "advice" to the royals, in particular Tunku Ismail, to avoid making political statements.
Section 505 relates to statements that could lead to public mischief and carries a maximum jail term of two years, a fine, or both.
Several Johoreans lodged police reports against Nazri because they took offence at him stating "we will whack him (Tunku Ismail)" if he interfered in politics.
Tunku Ismail had gotten the ball rolling on June 5 by mocking Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for failing to turn up at a highly-anticipated dialogue on 1MDB.
Tunku Ismail said someone who had "everything to hide" would not have turned up at a dialogue titled "Nothing2Hide".
Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said the police will record Nazri's statement soon. - Mkini
