"Never be worried, never be sad if you fight for the rakyat," said Shafie after today's announcement of a Cabinet reshuffle which saw him dropped as Rural and Regional Development minister.
Shafie spent more than one hour at the home of former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, arriving at 3pm and leaving at 4.25pm.
Muhyiddin was also dropped as deputy prime minister and education minister, being replaced by Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Mahadzir Khalid, respectively.
Both Muhyiddin and Shafie had departed from the Cabinet's silent stance on alleged scandals in government-owned 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), with both of them openly urging Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to answer and explain its alleged wrongdoings.
Shafie refused to comment on his discussion with Muhyiddin at the latter's home after he emerged from the premises.
Najib today announced sweeping changes to his Cabinet, in addition to installing a new Attorney-General, in a move that critics have slammed as a means to cement his hold on power and to forestall investigations into 1MDB.
